There is a concerted effort at the present time to question the federal government’s proposed purchase of 88 fighter jets at a cost of $19 billion. On July 24th, the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace' and World Beyond War organized protests at MP's offices in 14 cities across Canada.

"Canada launches multibillion-dollar bidding process for 88 new fighter jets. Four companies — Saab, Airbus, Lockheed Martin and Boeing — submitted quotes on August 1, 2020 to provide the advanced fighters."

This is an international issue. Here is a link to an article in the Guardian by George Monbiot - April 8, 2020 – where he is questioning the purchase of fighter jets in the UK. ……“what does ‘national defence' mean in a pandemic? It's no time to buy fighter jets”

Why is this important?

We need to challenge the power of the military-industrial complex
Do you know that the largest lobby group for the fighter jets is a charity - the Global Affairs Institute?

We need the $19 billion for housing, child care, the green new deal, and for education, long-term care, etc. Quote: "More for COVID-19 latest hurdle in Canada's long road to buying new fighter jets"
Fighter jets are a major polluter, and they are mainly used for air shows.
