There is little time to spare to protect our public health against the fossil fuel industry
Members of Parliament, Mark Carney must not continue to subsidize fossil fuels and expand LNG's and other pipelines.
Why is this important?
There is clear evidence that climate change is the single biggest threat to public health as declared by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The biggest contributor to climate change is greenhouse gases which come primarily from burning fossil fuels. This leads to massive adverse effects on public health, huge expenses in terms of increased energy costs, insurance costs due to increasing numbers of climate change related disasters, and at an incalculable cost to the economy in wasted costs.
As our planet is rapidly warming, we cannot waste any more time in saying no to any more subsidization of the fossil fuel industry nor can we afford to contemplate expanding either LNG terminals or the TMX pipeline as this will hasten and worsen climate change at the expense of our good health and our economy.
