Christy Clark Must Apologize for False Criminal Allegations

BC Premier Christy Clark crossed an ethical line last week. After an American election that disgusted many, Christy Clark is using the discredited tactics of the U.S.'s broken democracy - a system that produced President Donald Trump. In order to cover up a mistake by a communications staffer, she accused her democratic opposition of "hacking" a BC LIberal database. This a mere two weeks after the BC Liberals leaked the NDP's climate policy to reporters 90 minutes early, trying to disrupt the announcement. The hypocrisy isn't surprising, it's just enough.

Fire Emile Scheffer, the BC Liberal Communications Director who started this whole thing and Christy Clark must stand up in the Legislature and apologize for making up a story to distract from the devastating report from the Ministry of Children and Families on the death of Alex Gervais while in the care of the BC government. 120 children died in care of the BC government last year.

We refuse to allow these tactics to be used in BC. Christy Clark needs to demonstrate she understands what "hacking" actually is. Hint: it is not your Communications Director mistakenly posting a list of survey questions and answers and the personal data of citizens nice enough to tell you what a terrible job you're doing.

Fire Emile Scheffel, director of communications for the BC Liberals and apologize for dragging BC political discourse into the mud once again.

Why is this important?

The political climate has changed and we can no longer sit idly by while this government accuses its democratic opposition of criminal acts. We've seen the damage this has done in the United States. We won't stand idly by and watch this travesty. Premier Christy Clark must fire the BC Liberal staffer who lied about this hack and apologize for her anti-democratic actions.
