Ban X/Twitter in Canada

The CEO of social media platform X, also called Twitter, has used the platform to interfere in democratic elections across the globe and amplify hate speech —  and now, with its newest update, proliferate AI-generated images of revenge porn and child sexual abuse. 

Whether we like it or not, Canada is now on the frontlines in the fight to save democracy and resist global oligarchy. To preserve our own freedom of speech and informational security, we must prevent representatives of hostile foreign governments, such as Musk, from proliferating disinformation, propaganda, and sexualized abuse against women and children. 

Officials across Canada and abroad are already debating the role of X/Twitter in the public, with some countries taking action to ban the platform. A massive outpouring of support for an outright ban could be the push needed to get the federal government to take this urgently needed step to help secure Canada's information environment from American aggression and propaganda and stand up against a platform that enables sexualized abuse.
