Reopen processing centres to screen Syrian refugee families

This campaign has ended.

This petition has been sent April 8th to Minister McCallum. On April 7th the Minister has agreed to redeploy staff to the Middle East to fast-track another 10,000 Syrian files. With the petition a message was sent asking him to do his best to facilitate the arrival of waiting refugee families living in hardship to a new home in Canada where many generous Canadian citizens are waiting to welcome them.

More people have signed the petition since April 8th, now 565! A hard copy of the petition will be sent Thursday to Minister McCallum with the additional signatures.

Thank you everyone who supported this petition!

Why is this important?

Processing centres to screen Syrian refugee families are closed. This decision severely curtails options for many families who are desperately looking to resettle to Canada from the huge refugee camps in Jordon Lebanon and Turkey.
Many communities are ready to receive these families. They have been through the application process with Sponsorship Agreement Holders (SAH). They have raised the funds needed. They are waiting to welcome these families with young children who in in great need.
