Mark Carney, Send UN Peacekeepers To Gaza Now!

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney

Prime Minister Carney,

Gaza’s population is dying of starvation, disease and violence but, with your help, the UN can intervene and end this nightmare.

Article 22 of the UN Charter gives the UN General Assembly the power to create peacekeeping forces, as it did in 1956 when Canadian Prime Minister Lester Pearson called for UN intervention during the Suez Crisis. All that is needed now is for you to rise in the UN General Assembly and call for a peacekeeping mission to be sent to Gaza. If 2/3 of member nations vote for your proposal, it will pass, even if Security Council members try to veto it. (See: https://unu.edu/cpr/blog-post/could-general-assembly-authorize-peacekeepers-address-ongoing-crises

You may be sure that the overwhelming majority of UN member states will support this proposal, just as they have regularly and overwhelmingly supported resolutions to help the Palestinian People in their distress.

Prime Minister Carney, this is your moment to achieve true greatness. Sending a peacekeeping mission to Gaza will save hundreds of thousands of lives and win  the gratitude of the world for you and for Canada. It will make you a world leader and a leading candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize - a prize you will truly deserve. And it will win you the gratitude and support of Canadians who have watched the destruction of Gaza with horror.

We urge you to act now to end the bloodshed and suffering. Your actions will bring an end to the hostage crisis and will free 2 million Gazans from the terror and brutality of this war.

Why is this important?

Canada can act now to stop the carnage in Gaza. It can trigger the process of sending UN peacekeepers to Gaza. Members of the UN Security Council such as the United States will not be able to veto this process.
