Canadians with Print Disabilities Deserve the Right to Read!

Reconsider the $4,000,000 cut to services that enable people with print disabilities to read

Why is this important?

Additionally, I'm starting this campaign as someone who has been totally blind from birth. I'm also a single parent of 2 children, one of whom has a severe cognitive disability, making her someone with a print disability. I've relied on places like the CNIB Library, and now CELA, for books my whole life. As a child, I used to read many books produced at CNIB, and as an adult, I've used CELA's library to get books to assist my daughter in school, and to help curb boredom during the pandemic. I think it's wrong that they want to make this cut, just because people with disabilities are a minority. I believe we should be entitled to books we can access for free, just like our sighted peers. Access to literature should not be a right reserved only for those who can afford it.

How it will be delivered

Waiting for guidance on what to do next, however, you could bolster your support for this campaign by emailing your Liberal MP to show that this matter is important.

Waiting for guidance from a member of the LeadNow community to figure out exactly who to email and how to do it successfully. I've never done this kind of advocacy before, so please be patient and hopefully together, we can make a difference, not just for now, but for Canadians of the future.
