Step Down Patrick Brown

Patrick Brown, now-former leader of Ontario’s Conservative party is accused of gross sexual misconduct on two very young women — a high school student and a junior member of his team.[1]

Brown’s top aides and senior staff are dropping like flies, resigning one after the other just minutes after this “open secret” was exposed. But while Brown quit as leader of the party, he’s declaring that he’s “going after” his accusers, and refusing to resign his seat as a member Ontario’s legislature.[2-3]

Brown’s gross sexual misconduct has no place in politics or public office. He needs to resign his seat immediately.

Patrick Brown has voted against women for years [4]. And now, shocking revelations show how he’s abused his position of power to sexually prey on young women — and people in his professional circle aren’t surprised.

They’re saying Brown’s actions have been a “dirty little open secret” in politics for years — dating back to his time as a federal MP.[5]

Stepping down as party leader is one thing, but Brown’s committed to remaining an MPP. At a regular office job, he’d have already seen the door. As a high-profile public office holder representing what he believes are “Canadian values”, he needs to go now.

The #metoo movement has given hope that there’s a new dawn on the horizon. Time’s up for the silencing and discrediting of women. Time’s up for powerful men avoiding consequences for their disgusting behaviour.
